They are just NUMBERS!
Why am I ashamed of my body?
We're pretty sure most of us have gone through the same story. Why should you hate just because it has little extra skin, flesh or weighed more? Why? This is where the societal standards pitch in. We start hating our body because our society has an ideal thought of how a “perfect body” should look like? As a result, we want that body. When we weigh more, we hate ourselves. Why? It’s because you’re crippled by the thought of getting bullied by others for your “imperfect looks” Why should you be scared? Whose body is this? Theirs? No, it is yours.
Did you ever hate your body because it had more flesh?
Did you ever hate your body just because it weighed more on the weighing scale?
Did you ever feel like changing your body?
We're pretty sure most of us have gone through the same story. Why should you hate just because it has little extra skin, flesh or weighed more? Why? This is where the societal standards pitch in. We start hating our body because our society has an ideal thought of how a “perfect body” should look like? As a result, we want that body. When we weigh more, we hate ourselves. Why? It’s because you’re crippled by the thought of getting bullied by others for your “imperfect looks” Why should you be scared? Whose body is this? Theirs? No, it is yours.
How can you shed this dark fear that pops back of your mind every time you weigh yourself?
Simple. You need to face your fears, that is you need to face the societal norms, friends, relatives, bullies, who discourage you for what you look like. Shout this straight into their faces “ This is my body. Mine. Not yours. I have the right to handle and take care of my body! From where did you pitch in? I’m gonna continue being who i am and love myself the way i am.”
As soon as we see high numbers on the scale, we subconsciously hate our body and this is deep rooted because everyday, everywhere, all the time we see society promoting and fooling us that only a particular type of body is beautiful. We want to minimize and reduce the numbers from the weighing scale. So we starve our body, we don’t treat it in the right way. What has the body done? Treat your body like it’s a temple. Love it and it’ll love you back. Remember those numbers that you see on the scale are just numbers they don't equate to the value of your life or happiness.
We’ve always believed in the saying “ The more, the merrier.” How come it isn’t applicable now :) ?
Next time when you measure yourself, don't be scared. They are just numbers and remember no matter matter how high you weigh or how less you weigh, you’re beautiful. You matter and your body does. Most importantly, every body is beautiful. This is not a causal saying, it is the most important saying because you matter and your body is amazing!
